The Outdoor Research Freewheel short sleeve MTB jersey is the best-fitting mountain bike jersey I have worn in a long time.

True to size, the Outdoor Research Freewheel short sleeve MTB jersey is neither too tight, nor too baggy. This may seem like a strange detail to note, but I’ve had problems in the past with ill-fitting cycling jerseys.

I’m not sure at what point cycling clothing became so inconsistent in sizes, but to my dismay, sizing and fit seems to be inconsistent across brands in recent years. Therefore, I was absolutely delighted with how well the Outdoor Research Freewheel short sleeve MTB jersey fit.

Constructed from a recycled polyester, polyester and spandex blend, the Outdoor Research Freewheel short sleeve MTB jersey didn’t stick to my skin, nor did it smell.

Thanks to ActiveTemp™ technology (a thermo-regulating treatment that manages body temperature), the jersey felt light, and didn’t feel icky after a day riding on high alpine tails.
Other key features:
-
Breathable, moisture-wicking top.
-
UPF 30+ sun protection.
-
Bike-specific fit including contoured drop-tail hem for extra coverage, strategically placed shoulder seams for comfortable pack wear, and slightly longer sleeves.
-
Interior center back locker loop.
-
Outdoor Research logo on shoulder sleeve and across back.

Overall Look
In addition to fitting well, I like the overall look of the Outdoor Research Freewheel short sleeve MTB jersey.
I liked the trendy black cloud scape print that was evocative of tye die. The solid black sleeves and collar made the look come together.
For those not so much into prints, the Outdoor Research Freewheel short sleeve MTB jersey is also available in Cortez solid color and Balsam/Grove.

Final Thoughts
I was pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the Outdoor Research Freewheel short sleeve MTB jersey.
Many polyester blend cycling shirts either fit oddly, or lack the necessary breathability for mountain biking- not so with the Outdoor Research Freewheel short sleeve MTB jersey!
It fit well and looked good. The bonus was the tech that protected my skin from the harsh sun and kept me cool on the trail.
While Outdoor Research provides an array of outdoor apparel and isn’t focused primarily on cycling clothing, I recommend giving them a try.
If the Freewheel short sleeve MTB jersey is any indication of the fit, comfort and quality of the rest of their Freewheel MTB Collection, then I’m excited to try more.
