The Royal Robbins Billy Goat BC Lined Pants are my cold weather staple.

While many people think of lined pants as just for outdoor use, in mountain communities such as the one where I live, it is fairly common to wear lined pants both indoors and outdoors.

The Royal Robbins Billy Goat BC Lined Pants are one of my favorites this season for their warmth and their overall style.

Unlike many lined pants, they don’t have an overly technical appearance. They just look like a nice pair of casual pants that I can wear to work or going out.

My favorite place to wear them is the warehouse where I work on weekends. Even though it is heated, it is still the coldest place in the building due to garagelike doors being constantly opened and closed throughout the day.

Constructed from durable stretch canvas, the standard fit pants are surprisingly stretchy (a necessary clothing feature if you work in a warehouse where you’re constantly on the move).

I spent entire days packing boxes, unloading pallets, and performing similar tasks, and I did not experience any uncomfortable moments or restricted movements.

Furthermore, the combination fleece and flannel lining provide the warmth of wearing multiple layers but without the hassle of bundling up.

I also appreciated that the pants feature plenty of deep pockets (back, hand, and a hidden zip) to keep everything handy.

These pants are fine to wear outdoors while walking the dogs or going out to do errands.

I dislike layering up if I’m not going skiing or doing some kind of all day outdoor recreation, so it’s nice to just put on a single pair of pants to do something simple like walking the dogs or going out to do errands.

The Royal Robbins Billy Goat BC Lined Pant is available in eight sizes (2-16) and two colors (charcoal and everglade). They are not offered in extended sizes, so I had to get the hemmed by my local seamstress (I am 5’0”).

Other than the length, the pants fit well. They were comfortable and made from the same soft canvas as the Royal Robbins Half Dome Shorts that I liked so much and often wore last summer.

I live in Colorado’s high country, which roughly translates to five months of cold and snow. The Royal Robbins Billy Goat BC Lined Pant is a nice looking, comfortable pant that keeps me warm indoors and outside. If you get cold as easily as I do (even indoors), dislike having to wear baselayers, and want to wear a pair of pants that don’t scream technical with a capital T, then these are the winter pants for you.
