Vasque Breeze LT Low GTX – Great For Summer Adventures
The Vasque Breeze LT Low GTX ($160) is a great low top shoe for most summer adventures. Featuring a lighter midsole, GoreTex for waterproofness, and Vibram traction.
Vasque Breeze LT Low GTX Shoe
I am a fan of the Vasque boots and shoes we have reviewed for the last few years. You can see some of those reviews in the links below. The shoe that has impressed me this year is the Vasque Breeze LT Low GTX shoe. It fits in a sweet spot of being an attractive shoe for urban use while offering legitimate function in the outdoors.
Vasque Talus XT GTX Boot – Burly Hiking Boot
Vasque Breeze LT Boot – The high top version of this shoe
The Vasque Exclusive Vibram® Ground Control LiteBase with Megagrip Compound is a very good outsole. It provides plenty of good grip for hikes in all kinds of terrain. Dirt, rocks, wet grass, even some light snow (it snowed on one of our Summer Solstice camping trip 🙂 )
Some hiking shoes are not as comfortable in city and look like they belong only on the trail. The Breeze LT is a good looking shoe! I used them for plenty of urban adventures. They were my daily shoe for walking the dogs in the early morning dew and for long days of mixed-use. These were also my primary shoe for travel when I was trying to pack minimally.
The Vibram Litebase is the magic of these shoes. It reduces weight by 25% and it is very noticeable. I think this is why they have been the shoe I usually grab when I know I want a comfortable, lightweight, breathable, and waterproof shoe. From trails to daily use, these are very comfortable.
Waterproof and Breathable
The Breeze LT GTX is fully waterproof and surprisingly breathable. Credit the Gore-Text Extended Comfort membrane for this. I used these in below freezing temps and snow, as well as very breathable in humid and hot temps. As I write this review, I am in Coshocton Ohio with a temp of 95 and humidity of 85. Needless to say, it is hot and sticky! I found these shoes to be the perfect shoe for dry and hot as well as wet and hot conditions.
The Breeze LT GTX is an excellent shoe for adventure and casual use. They look sharp, feel great, have excellent traction, and have proven durable. They are a bit more pricey than some shoes, but they are performing at a high level and show little signs of wear after 4-5 months of almost daily use and abuse. Below are places to grab a pair!
