My husband wore the Vasque Talus XT GTX waterproof hiking boots on a 3-day camping/hiking/fishing trip recently and he really put them to the test. They passed with flying colors, just like the rainbow trout he caught while fishing in them. These boots are an exceptional choice if you are looking for something comfortable, light, breathable and waterproof.

These shoes were new out of the box when he laced them up on day 1 of our trip and after wearing them for four days straight and putting about 20 miles on them he confirmed there was ZERO break-in time required. They felt just as comfortable in mile 1 as they did when he took them off days later with no blisters or hot spots. He didn’t wear any of the other shoes he’d packed because these boots covered all of his footwear needs.

We went for a hike where we crossed multiple streams and his feet stayed completely dry. We also camped right next to a river so he would just walk down to the water’s edge to fish and never had to worry about wet feet. These boots handled perfectly on the wet rocks too! Not having to change into his fishing boots was a big win.

I thought these boots would be too hot for hiking in the summer time, but his feet were never too hot or too cold! From hiking on a hot day to chilly nights at the campsite – foot temperature was just right.

These could be the ugliest boots on the market and I’d still recommend them, but they are actually stylish enough to wear around town too. They definitely give off a rugged but trendy vibe and were perfect to wear around town when we stopped for lunch in Telluride, CO and dinner in Ouray, CO.
