Mountain Hardwear Kor PreShell Jacket – Your New Must-Have
The Mountain Hardwear Kor PreShell Jacket is unlike anything you have ever seen (or felt). It is an ultralight, highly breathable and extremely versatile jacket.
Ultralight and Packable
I tested a size XL Kor PreShell and it weighed in at 4.9 ounces. Yes, you read correctly. Not only is it light, but it is also packable. It packs into a pocket inside of the right-hand pocket. That’s right, inside a pocket is a pocket to store the Kor. It is that packable!
We have tested plenty of UL jackets that pack into small spaces and do all the things we just mentioned. But none have ever PERFORMED or FELT as good as the Kor. Meaning that this is actually a jacket you will want to wear often, and not just for ultralight missions.
Pertex Quantum Air Fabric
Pertex makes some really great materials. No wonder you see their logo attached to so many brands gear. The material used in the Kor PreShell is a remarkable material called Quantum Air. And it is here to flip the gear world on its head. Pertex Quantum Air is a stretchy, highly breathable and durable material that actually feels good to the touch.
Comfortable for days
So good that I did not want to take the jacket off after testing in the elements. Actually, I used the jacket indoors as well. Wearing it as I trained in the gym, on casual date nights and lounging around the house. I liken it to your favorite hoody. You know, the one that is your go-to for relaxing in.
Though, you would probably not wear that hoody to the top of a mountain or use it to do a backcountry adventure in. That is were this Kor PreShell shines. It is comfortable as anything you will wear, yet functions at a high enough level that you will find it packed year-round for all your adventures.
Features of the Kor PreShell Jacket
Besides being ultralight, the Kor still features two real hand pockets and a great fit. This is not a stripped-down UL jacket. The Pertex Quantum Air is 20D and breathes like a lung. You will feel right at home wearing this jacket in urban and backcountry environments. Like I mentioned earlier, I used this jacket while training at the gym as well as on several winter camping and splitboarding tours.
Bottom Line – You Need This Jacket!
I have many wind jackets/ultralight jacket/go-to hoodies – but I think they all take second place to the Kor PreShell. It is that, dang, good. Once you put it on, you will know why. Grab one here from REI, Backcountry.com and Mountain Hardwear. Available in both men and women ($130) as well as non-hooded. Enjoy!
