For the Carbon version, Weston spent the past three years completely re-imagining the construction, and what a Carbon board is capable of.

Justin Ibarra testing the Carbon Backwoods out

  • Weight savings, but still durable enough to send a 30-foot cliff: Weston shaved 1.3 pounds (the carbon 157 split weighs in at 5.84 pounds vs the standard at 7.17), but did not want to compromise the durability they are known for. They tested countless prototypes to the point of destruction before landing on a strategically re-enforced core that could withstand a 30-40 foot cliff drop and ride away — a difficult feat for a carbon board aimed at dropping weight.
  • Innovative Materials: It is the only Carbon snowboard from a major manufacturer to utilize aluminum stringers, instead of carbon. This reduces chatter carbon boards are known for, providing a smooth, damp ride and increased durability.
  • Accessible MSRP: Many high-end carbon splitboards are clocking in at nearly $1500, Weston took a hit on their own margin to keep the MSRP at a cost that was accessible to everyday riders at $1099

We are big fans of the backwoods here at Engearment.  Check out our review of the standard version splitboard here.

New Weston Rise Women’s Splitboard

This is the board for smaller riders who turn the backcountry into the ultimate playground. This directional twin shares the same shape, profile, and flex of its award-winning brother board the Range. Camber between the feet with a rockered tip and tail and 20mm setback stance make this the perfect board for stomping pillow lines and sending it down your favorite couloir.
No shrink it and pink it here, we left all the carbon stringers in, providing the same pop and explosiveness as the Range, packaged with a slightly narrower waist width and a weight saving Paulownia wood core specifically designed for smaller and lighter riders.
In partnership with Backcountry Babes, 10% of net profits from the sale of each Rise will be donated to create a scholarship fund for women riders to obtain their AIARE certification. Solid MSRP $499 Split MSRP $849
