(We have tested – and love – this jacket here at Engearment. Here is one of our video review)
The Forclas MT100 Hooded Down Puffer jacket is an ethically sourced down puffer jacket filled with 800 fill power down for warmth. It has an abrasion-resistant and water repellent outer layer. It is not waterproof, but will keep you dry for short stints out in light rain or snow. There are two well-placed and large hand pockets. Also, designed as a backpacking jacket, this is Decathlon’s most lightweight and packable down jacket as the entire jacket can be folded left-hand pocket with a double-sided zipper for closure. The jacket has an attached insulated hood. Decathlon advertises that this jacket is good in temperatures between 23 degrees and 41 degrees F. Also, of note, this jacket runs small and for sizing it is recommended that customers order “one size up” or fully two sizes bigger if they jacket will be worn with multiple layers underneath.

Wear testing: I live in the high mountains of Colorado which means that cold weather and even occasional snow start coming in September. I did order one size up on this jacket and when worn with a thin sweatshirt or fleece under it, it fits well. It does have a trim fit across the abdomen, but is not uncomfortable. This size Large jacket fits me well as I am 6’3” and 170 pounds. The arm length is good for me and the waist of the jacket is long enough to provide ample coverage below the waistline. Arm mobility feels natural and does not seem constricted. The hood fits my cranium well and is toasty, blocking out cold wind and keeping the back of my neck warm on early morning dog walks when the temperatures are down in the 20s. I did notice that on windy days, this jacket seems to block the wind pretty effectively. This jacket has been my new go-to jacket to wear on short trips outside, walking the dog and when I’m bopping around town on errands during cool weather this fall. I’m looking forward to perhaps trying it when I do some snowshoeing on nicer, sunny days this winter.
This jacket comes in four colors and has sizes available from small to 3XL. With Decathlon’s direct to consumer business model, this jacket is a great value with a retail price of $99.99. Decathlon is currently offering free shipping on this jacket at the time this review was written.
This jacket is also available for women in a variety of colors and sizes.
