Smith Lowdown Slim 2 Sunglasses
Review by Kate Agathon
As someone with a small face and a low nose bridge, I have difficulty finding eyewear that fits well.
Despite some companies that advertise “Asian fit” or eyewear for smaller faces, much of the eyewear is usually ill-fitting. At times, finding eyewear that performs, fits well and looks good can be discouraging!
This season, I was on the hunt for a pair of lifestyle sunglasses – a pair that prioritized comfort and would be suitable (i.e. not too sporty) in any environment with any outfit (I’m going on honeymoon next month).
Thankfully, the Smith Lowdown Slim 2 Sunglasses are exactly what I was looking for.
Not only do they fit my face, they actually stay in place!

A good pair of lifestyle sunglasses should be versatile, reflect personal style, be comfortable, and offer decent UV protection. Oh, and properly fit your face.
The Smith Lowdown Slim 2 Sunglasses meet all that criteria.
I wore the Smith Lowdown Slim 2 Sunglasses in Matte Black with the ChromaPop Glass Polarized Black option. I liked the classic black color of the frame and lens because they are the most versatile and can go with casual or dressed up looks.
The classic style of the sunglasses ensured that I can wear them for years and not have a dated, trendy look.

Secondly, the bio-based frames have flexible features such as soft rubber Megol nosepads to prevent them from sliding down my nose. The comfortably snug fit* offered great stability and didn’t move no matter how I tilted my head.
*Since they stayed on my head, I can’t attest to the purported scratch-resistance of the lenses.
Thanks to the ergonomic design, I wore the lightweight frames all day and didn’t experience any headaches or uncomfortable pain on my temples or above my ears- areas that in the past have given me significant discomfort due to the thickness or stiffness of the frames.
Finally, the glass lenses packed some serious technology and clear optics.
Compared to other brands, the glass lenses felt extremely light (I had to double check to make sure they actually were glass).

The polarized ChromaPop lenses offered superior clarity. Even wearing them in the house looking out the window onto the deck, the boosted color and detail were sharp.
Furthermore, I was pleased with how well they effectively eliminated glare; even with the sun bouncing off the snow on nearby Buffalo Mountain.

Sun glare from snow is no joke in the mountain community where I live. I was glad that my casual lifestyle sunglasses not only offered 100 percent UV protection with its anti-reflective coating, but performed as well as sports eyewear.
Final Thoughts
I love the Smith Lowdown Slim 2 lifestyle sunglasses for their fit, versatility, style, and tech.
There’s a reason that over the years, I keep going back to Smith for my performance eyewear (both goggles and sunglasses) when I bike and ski- the fit and technology are consistently superior to anything I have ever worn.

I’m grateful that Smith offers lifestyle sunglasses that fit my face. Now I can look fashionable and feel secure knowing that I have a pair of quality sunglasses. I am excited to use them on my upcoming honeymoon!
The Smith Lowdown Slim 2 is available in six frame/lens combinations. I highly recommend these for people with small faces looking for high-performing lifestyle sunglasses with a classic aesthetic.
