ROLL Recovery SUPERPLUSH™ Classic Shoes Review

Review by Erin Trail

Initial Impressions

The ROLL Recovery SUPERPLUSH™ Classic Shoes are comfortable pull-on shoes that provide stability and support while also being cushy.

Detailed Review

I have a torn plantar plate (thank you Ironman Coeur d’Alene for the gift that keeps on giving) and I have a hard time walking shoeless on hard floors. And guess what kind of flooring I have for my entire house? Hardwood and tile. During the summer, I usually wear squishy recovery sandals, but I haven’t found anything I love for winter. With my foot issues, I need structured support AND it also needs to be cushy. When ROLL Recovery announced their new SUPERPLUSH™ Classic Shoes, I thought this would make a great winter option that would make my feet happy.

Features:

  • Engineered Footbed with Structured Support – proprietary foodbed called Cradle Design™ supports the foot while also relieves pressure on the achilles tendon
  • Orthofit™ Support for Arch and Midfoot comfort
  • Made from sustainable materials:
SuperPlush™ Foam: Algae + EVA with Bloom Foam Technology and Rubber Back Support..
Airyarn™ Mesh Upper from Recycled PET.

I’ve been wearing the ROLL Recovery SUPERPLUSH™ Classic Shoes for a month now. They only have whole sizes available; I wear a women’s size 8.5 to 9 and my feet are inconviently a solid half size different. I ordered a size 9 (as the website advised) and without socks, the feel a little big and floppy. If I wear medium to thick socks, the shoes fit fine. The website does say if you order down a size, the Airyarn™ Mesh Upper will stretch, but my feet are finicky and I opted for the bigger size.

The shoes are well designed. They offer a pull tab on the tongue and heel of the shoes, making putting the shoes on a snap. The Airyarn™ Mesh Upper is stretchy and flexible (but holds its shape) and offers a nice level of support to the tops of my feet. They look like they’d be clunky and heavy, but I found them to be lightweight and landed well underfoot.

I really appreciate the lower elements of these shoes. The Orthofit™ Support means that my foot is supported in all the right ways, while the SuperPlush™ Foam provides a cushy – yet stable – base for my feet. I can wear these all day around my house and my feet feel GREAT.

I’ve taken to wearing the ROLL Recovery SUPERPLUSH™ Classic Shoes nearly everywhere. I wear them at home often, wear them on dry days where I’m running errands (like grocery shopping). I wear them in the mornings on my way to the pool and I’ve even worn them for a few bench press weightlifting sessions. I’ve even worn them to work – they’re styled in a way where they can easily fit into a business casual work environment.

Closing Thoughts

The ROLL Recovery SUPERPLUSH™ Classic Shoes are super comfortable and supportive shoes with versatility. They make great house shoes but also can be worn in gyms, while running errands, and while working in an office. Due to having only whole sizes available, the user needs to choose between having a tight shoe or a slightly loose shoe if caught between sizes. These shoes are easy to wear – and an easy purchase to feel good about, thanks to the sustainable materials used in the soles and fabric uppers.

Cycling encouraged her to see landscapes in a new way, learn new skills and to develop self reliance; now she often goes and does Type 2 rides just to see if she can do it.  She’s got all the bikes: gravel, mountain, fat bike, time trial and road.

She is even known to combine her love of camping and cycling and go off on solo 24 hour overnight bikepacking trips in the mountains of Colorado. In addition to bikes, she teaches yoga, lifts weights, skis, SUPs and has recently purchased a campervan.

Erin is a former Montana park ranger with a degree in environmental engineering.  She loves getting into technical details while putting her gear (and herself) through the paces. She shares her home in Colorado with her husband, Will, and her 3 cats (Zipper, Brewtus, and Simcoe).

2025 brings some exciting things.  Erin has qualified to be on Team USA for USA Triathlon and will be competing in a World Championship off-road triathlon in Pontevedra, Spain in June. To prepare for this event, she’s got several mountain bike races and training weekends planned in the months leading up to the big day.  Additionally, she’s racing Ironman Boise 70.3 in July.  Once her race schedule closes out in July, she’ll be moving to more adventure based activities (bikepacking, vanlife, and mountain bike festivals).

When not adventuring, she can be found on a sunny patio somewhere, drinking beers with her husband.
