One word to describe Kari Traa baselayers: amazing.

The exact opposite of the bland colored baggy baselayers of my youth, Kari Traa baselayers scream fun. Inspired by Norwegian freestyle skiing Olympian Kari Traa, the baselayers are super comfortable and arrive in a variety of colorful designs.

By creating a baselayer that is equal parts fun, flattering, and comfortable, the Kari Traa designers know what they’re doing.

The fun comes from the eye-popping prints that has cross-generation appeal.  I noticed that women of all ages were eyeing the displays with great interest and asking the floor models plenty of questions about their favorite colors and styles (hoody versus ¼ zip versus henley). I was reluctant to cover them up with a ski parka.

The fit is superb-  not too tight, and not too baggy. The slim fit is flattering- long enough to cover my rear and keep it warm, while simultaneously concealing my love handles. I also appreciated the strategically placed 4 way stretch side panels offered some ventilation while also adding to the illusion of a slimmer waist. As soon as I put them on, I became an instant fan.

Finally, let’s talk about comfort. Unlike other wool baselayers that I’ve worn in the past, the Kari Traa merino wool baselayers maintain their shape- no more saggy butt or knees. They are also ridiculously stretchy and soft.

Kari Traa is pretty much is the baselayer to end all baselayers. These midweight baselayers offer odor control and work overtime by taking you from the slopes to apres ski drinks at the ski lodge.  The only dilemmas women will face is which pattern to wear.

Kari Traa baselayer tops range in price from $74 to $119. The Kari Traa Half Zip Top photographed here retails for $109.
