Review by Erin Trail

The Women’s AirExchange UPF 50 High-Neck Tank is a super light weight and stylish tank top option in the newest AirExchange shirt lineup from Marmot.  This tank top can be used as a base layer or on its own. The AirExchange fabric is breathable and quick drying, made from 100% Pre-Consumer Recycled Polyester.

The Marmot Women’s AirExchange UPF 50 High-Neck Tank offers UPF 50 sun protection and flat-felled, lowered shoulder seams increase durability and comfort.  The tank also offers a small zip-pocket on the side of the shirt.  This pocket is on the smaller side and won’t fit a phone, but it will fit smaller things like IDs and snacks.

I’ve been mostly wearing the Marmot Women’s AirExchange UPF 50 High-Neck Tank while running, lifting weights, and in my hot yoga class (95 degrees).  The fit of the tank is relaxed (slightly boxy) and is slightly cropped. I am between a size small and medium and found that the size medium fit me best.

Detailed Review

I love the fit and the style of this shirt. I typically don’t like cropped shirts, but this one isn’t aggressively cropped. It fits into my personal Goldilocks category of “just right”.  I think it particularly looks good with high waisted yoga tights, but it also looks nice with joggers or shorts.  I opted for the Sumac colorway and I am obsessed with this color.

The Marmot Women’s AirExchange UPF 50 High-Neck Tank can be used for a variety of activities.  It’s light enough where it can be worn as a base layer for hiking or cycling.  It can also be worn on it’s own in an endless array of activities. I’ve personally been wearing the high-neck tank to lift weights, for hot yoga, and for running. I like that the tank stays in place but also moves appropriately for running and weight lifting.  I don’t have to fidget with the shirt as I move, it just does exactly what I need it to do.

I especially love the Marmot Women’s AirExchange UPF 50 High-Neck Tank for my hot yoga class.  The class is a very active flow class, with plenty of downward facing dogs, planks, and standing poses.  The high-neck tank moves right along with me as I flow along.  Sweat barely shows on the shirt (my shirt is often soaked with sweat after hot yoga).  And the high-neck tank dries within minutes of me leaving the class.

Did I mention that it’s also really stylish? It looks really great and I feel really confident when I’m wearing it.

I do find the side pocket to be a bit unnecessary.  The zipper pull (a rubber coated cord) sticks out a bit and I notice it when I move my arms along my sides.  I end up tucking the zipper pull into the pocket and then zipping it closed, and this eliminates the issue. I also don’t need a side pocket in a tank top or base layer, usually because I have on other items of clothing that have pockets.

Closing Thoughts

The Marmot Women’s AirExchange UPF 50 High-Neck Tank is a lightweight and versatile tank top, featuring both function and style. I love the fit and cut of the shirt, as it’s both flattering and moves well during all of my activities.  The 100% recycled polyester wicks away sweat and dries within minutes.  This high tank is a great option  on the trail, at the gym, or hanging out with friends.
