Stio Shifter Shirt SS (Men’s)
Review by Will Trail
Initial Impressions
The Shifter Shirt SS is a lightweight, moisture-wicking, and breathable performance top designed for mountain biking. It features two-way stretch for mobility, UPF 50+ sun protection, underarm ventilation, a chest pocket with a sunglasses loop, and a zippered back pocket—making it ideal for both intense rides and post-ride hangouts.

Detailed Review
The Shifter Shirt SS is constructed from Railleur™, a two-way stretch fabric that enhances breathability and quick-drying performance. I found the fabric extremely comfortable—even in direct sunlight, I never felt excessively warm. A front chest pocket offers space for small items like snacks or sunglasses. The rear pocket is on the smaller size and best for IDs or snacks. Snaps are used to fasten the pocket and front and work well without any fuss. The collar is reinforced and well-shaped, so it doesn’t flap around in the wind. The shirt also features a UPF 50+ rating for sun protection and underarm perforations for added ventilation. The fit generally aligns with standard men’s sizing, and the extended shirttail helps keep your lower back covered when you’re moving around on the bike. I asked for a XXL shirt based on Stio’s sizing and found it to be too big; a size XL fits perfectly.

I wore this shirt while riding and running errands, and it performed well in both settings. The stretch allows full range of motion on the bike, and the breathable material makes it suitable for warm weather. There was a noticeable cooling effect when hitting a descent with speed increase. I could easily wear this on a casual workday and head straight out for a ride—it offers solid temperature regulation and sun protection.

Closing Thoughts
Overall, the Stio Shifter Shirt SS is made from high-quality materials, like Railleur™, that provide excellent sun protection, light water resistance, and all-day comfort. It doesn’t trap heat, allows full mobility, and is versatile enough for biking, hiking, office wear, or casual outings. This shirt is now one of my go-to riding shirts, and I really enjoy wearing it in both active and casual situations.
