Wiley X TWISTED Sunglasses Review

If the dwarves of Moria were to forge a pair of sunglasses, it might just be the TWISTED Wiley X…
They’re lightweight enough to forget you’re wearing them, yet tough enough to survive flying rocks, rogue branches, or even a misplaced power tool. These 30g shades are armor with style, precision optics, and a hint of tactical swagger.
Safety and Durability
They’re ANSI Z87.1+ certified, meaning they meet the high-velocity impact standard for occupational eye safety. Z87 is basic protection; Z87+ is the “Sh*t can go sideways quick” level.
Speaking of things that might be unexpected, the Triloid™ nylon frames are basically the Mithril of sunglasses: unbelievably strong, feather-light, and practically indestructible. They can absorb impacts that would crack ordinary frames and keep your lenses in place — your eyes stay safe while the frames barely flex. High performance meets comfort, not something typical in tactical-style eyewear.
Lenses That Actually Improve Your Vision
The CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Blue Mirror lenses are more than just a vibe. They actually enhance contrast, make colors pop, and improve depth perception. By selectively filtering blue light, which naturally scatters and creates haze, CAPTIVATE™ lenses reduce visual washout, making distant objects sharper and the world clearer. This is a lot different than just darkening the world around you.
Blue light naturally scatters more than other colors, which creates a visual haze and washes out distant detail. The CAPTIVATE™ lenses selectively filter this scattered blue light, improving contrast and sharpness so the world looks clearer and more defined.
Add in shatterproof Selenite™ polycarbonate lenses (ballistic-grade, in case your day becomes a little too adventurous) and 100% UVA/UVB protection, and you have eyewear that’s as safe as it is sharp. Prescription options are also available.

On the Trail, on the Slopes, and on the Road
I’ve been wearing these sunglasses for about two months, from driving to hiking to backcountry skiing, and honestly for everyday wear. My post-LASIK eyes are picky, and these frames don’t irritate, slide off, or feel heavy, even on a medium-sized head.
The Polarized Blue Mirror lenses add a sporty, aggressive look, but the classic tactical frame keeps it grounded. Capable, not flashy. These have quickly rotated to the front of my shade collection, primarily for their weightless comfort, and secondarily for their coolness factor.
Tech Deep Dive:
Triloid™ Nylon Frames
I’ll say it again, the “Mithril” of sunglasses frames: incredibly strong, feather-light, and almost magical in durability. Wiley X’s proprietary nylon is one of, if not the strongest non-metal frame materials out there.
CAPTIVATE™ Lenses
CAPTIVATE™ isn’t just a tint — it’s optical wizardry. By filtering scattered blue light, these lenses reduce haze, enhance contrast, and sharpen depth perception, so your world pops into focus without making everything unnaturally dark.
The Real-World Takeaway
You’re wearing tactical-grade, optical-clarity sunglasses forged from enchanted (or maybe just proprietary) materials. From backcountry trails to city streets, your eyes get elite protection and peak visual performance, all without sacrificing comfort or style.

Verdict
The TWISTED sunglasses have quickly become my go-to, combining durability, weightless comfort, and visual clarity that actually improves how you see the world. If you want high-performance sunglasses that can survive adventure, tactical work, or everyday life while keeping your eyes safe and your look sharp, these are a solid investment.
