I distinctly remember the day that I realized that socks actually can affect your running performance. It was the first week of my freshman cross country year at Philadelphia University. I had precisely picked out my shorts, shoes, and tech T but neglected to even think about the bulky socks that I squeezed my feet into.
About 6 miles into our 10-mile time trial I really started thinking about them and not in a good way. I ended up going out that night to buy some bandages and tech socks. Fast forward nearly 13 years and tech socks are an essential part of my running kit.
However, not all running socks are created equal! The new Swiftwick Maxus Zero Tab socks are a superior choice for all things running! I have had the pleasure to run in these the past 6 weeks and I have yet to find even the smallest negative detail. I have worn them in cold conditions, wet conditions, snow, and on warm spring days. I even wore them for a nearly 8-hour trail run in which they got wet in the first 20 min. I ended the day with zero blisters, hot spots, or complaints.

Key Features:
Heal Area- I found that the Y-Shaped heal did a nice job of preventing blisters or bunching up as it moves with your foot.Â
Toe Box- The zero-Seam Toe Box is super comfortable and prevents blisters on my toes which is a common problem area for me. It’s nice to not feel any seams or bulges during very long runs.
Arch Band Support- There is a section of very tightly woven fabric that goes completely around the arch area. I found this to completely prevent the sock from moving around. It is also very comfortable and does not feel overly tight.
Footbed Fabric- the fabric on the footbed is a little heavier than the rest of the sock and creates an extremely comfortable surface. I found that while this fabric is a little thicker it still was light and dries very fast.Â
Durability- I have put these socks through the wash and dryer many times and they are showing zero signs of wear or tear! So far, they are extremely durable.
What would I change? Absolutely nothing!
