Oiselle Lux Mock Neck

Review by Erin Trail

The Lux Mock Neck is Oiselle’s winter running top that shouldn’t be hidden beneath layers.  Sure, at it’s core, it’s a super functional, cool to cold weather running top that can be layered under things. But this shirt is so cute, thanks to details like fun colors and interesting seams, that it really shines on it’s own.

The star of the Oiselle Lux Mock Neck is the super soft Classic Lux fabric, made from 87% Polyester, 11% Spandex bluesign® approved materials.  The fabric is a brushed polyester that feels great against your skin but also breathes as you sweat.  The shirt also features a really fun diagonal criss-cross seam design for a subtle pop, elevating it from a simple winter running shirt.

The cut of the Oiselle Lux Mock Neck is pretty trendy: oversized with a slight crop.  I’m a size 8 according to the Oiselle size chart and found that the size 8 fits me well.  The sleeves are intentionally oversized, but with minimal cuff fabric, making it easy to roll or shove the sleeves up your forearm.  I do wish that there were thumb holes or a watch hole built into the sleeves, but these are more “nice to have” items versus deal breakers.

The torso of the Oiselle Lux Mock Neck is definitely in the loose + cropped style that’s trending lately. The shirt isn’t overly cropped, hitting me across my hip bones.  I typically run with a pack and I found that the shirt plays well with my pack; it didn’t ride up or bunch up during my runs.

Similar to the Oiselle Flyout Mile One Long Sleeve, there’s a mock neck.  I found that the shoulder/neck design was a little awkward (it looks like I’m wearing the shirt backwards, similar to the Flyout Mile One), but  also didn’t find the feel of the mock neck annoying during my runs.  The height of the mock neck, combined with the Lux fabric, felt really nice against my neck and I didn’t feel confined or too warm as I ran with the shirt on.

As for performance, I really enjoyed running in the Oiselle Lux Mock Neck.  Most of my test runs were in late fall to early winter, with temperatures in the 40s and low 50s. The Lux fabric felt great against my skin, with zero rubbing or chafing.  The fabric moved and breathed really well. And I also think I looked pretty good, and we all know that looking good >>> running fast.

Closing Thoughts

The Oiselle Lux Mock Neck is a stylish, fun, and functional cool to cold weather running shirt.  The women-foward design elements might add a little motivation to get winter runners out the door, making those sometimes dreary winter runs a little more comfortable and fun.

The Oiselle Lux Mock Neck is available in three colorways and in women’s sizes ranging from 2 to 14.

Erin is an adult-onset athlete who started as a Masters Swimmer and then developed into a triathlete.  She has completed 5 Ironman races and nearly 20 x 70.3 distance Ironman races, including the World Championship in Lahti, Finland, in 2023.  In 2025, she raced for Team USA in Pontevedra, Spain for the World Triathlon Cross Tri World Championship. She placed 9th in her age group and was the 1st American woman in her age group.
Somewhere along her triathlon journey, she picked up deep love of cycling. Cycling encouraged her to see landscapes in a new way, learn new skills and to develop self reliance; now she often goes and does Type 2 rides just to see if she can do it.  She’s got all the bikes: gravel, mountain, fat bike, time trial and road.
She is even known to combine her love of camping and cycling and go off on solo 24 hour overnight bikepacking trips in the mountains of Colorado. In addition to bikes, she teaches yoga, lifts weights, skis, SUPs and has recently purchased a campervan.

Erin is a former Montana park ranger with a degree in environmental engineering.  She loves getting into technical details while putting her gear (and herself) through the paces. She shares her home in Colorado with her husband, Will, and her 3 cats (Zipper, Brewtus, and Simcoe).
Fall and winter 2025 will bring Erin to the “Adventure Side”, with many camping, vanlife, bikepacking, and mountain bike rides. Once the snow flies, she can be find resort skiing, fat biking, and triathlon training (inside and outside).
2026 will bring a National Championship Cross Tri race, a National Championship Road Sprint and Olympic Distance race, and hopefully a chance to represent Team USA once again in 2027 in Edmonton, Canada. She’ll also save lots of room for adventure time with her friends and husband.
When not adventuring, she can be found on a sunny patio somewhere, drinking beers with her husband.
