Detailed Review
I love a shacket and Stio, with the Skycrest Insulated Snap Shirt, and created one that’s both versatile and stylish.
Out of the package, I immediately noticed how lightweight it was and how good the fabric felt in my hands.
The Skycrest Insulated Snap Shirt almost feels like a puffy jacket, thanks to the recycled Thermore® Ecodown® insulation (which is vegan). The jacket is lightweight, coming in around 12 ounces. And like a puffy jacket, it compresses down into a small size. I found that I could stuff the Skycrest into a handlebar bottle bag on a bikepacking trip, which was pretty impressive.
The styling of the Stio Skycrest Insulated Snap Shirt is what gives this jacket an edge over other shackets in my collection. The details are really lovely. The shoulders and sleeves have a stitched diamond quilting, giving the jacket a bit of a moto vibe. The chest pockets give a hint of a western vibe. The snaps are embossed with a pinecone design. Finally, the shirttail hem adds a bit of style while allowing for more movement in the hip area.

The outer fabric of the Stio Skycrest Insulated Snap Shirt is a silky feeling fabric that is both wind and water resistant. During my testing, I’ve worn it in cooler temperatures (40-60 degrees) and sometimes with a light drizzle. The water beads right up and I didn’t feel any wind or cold breaking through.
The interior of the jacket is a smooth recycled taffeta, that’s silky to the touch. I have the Sage Flats colorway and the interior fabric is a dark pine green, which is another great style touch. The one thing that is missing on this jacket are interior pockets, which I like for a more secure phone or ID storage.
The Stio Skycrest Insulated Snap Shirt is highly packable. I’ve crammed this item into compact spaces, and when I unfurl the shacket, it looks super wrinkly, but the wrinkles shake out in a few minutes and the jacket looks as good as new. I’ve also managed to clean light dirt stains off of the Snap Shirt easily with water and a soft cloth. And I managed to get campfire smoke smells out of the jacket with a good airing out in the sunshine.

Finally, the Stio Skycrest Insulated Snap Shirt fits true to size. I got a size medium and I found that the arms are the right length, hitting right at the wrists. The jacket is roomy enough for a thicker shirt or sweater underneath but doesn’t feel baggy or loose. The wrist elastic also fits well, keeping wind out while allowing enough movement to slide over a larger watch face.
Closing Thoughts
The Stio Skycrest Insulated Snap Shirt is a stylish, lightweight, and versatile layering option that’s appropriate for a wide range of activities. This shacket looks great enough to wear out to dinner but performs well enough for camping and inclement weather. It makes a fantastic shoulder season option and could even serve as a mid-layer option in winter.
The Stio Skycrest Insulated Snap Shirt is available for both men and women. Women’s options come in 6 colorways and sizes ranging from XXS to XXL.
