Gorewear SPINSHIFT Jersey and Bib Shorts
Katie Prendergast
Gorewear’s SPINSHIFT cycling line up has become my go-to for everything from hot summer commutes and training rides to gravel racing to indoor workouts.

Why? First, the material is so breathable and lightweight, you barely notice you’re wearing it. The skin-tight fit is aerodynamic but stretchy enough that it doesn’t restrict your movement. Three pockets and a zippered stash pocket are roomy and utilitarian for everything you need to keep handy. And the entire line up LOOKS GOOD with many color options to match the rest of your bike gear.
Gorewear Spinshift Breathe Jersey
I’ve owned several Gorewear Spinshift Breathe jerseys, and they’ve all stood up to a long season of 70+ mile gravel races and three to four weekly washes.
The jersey material is ultralight and breathable for even the hottest rides and features two body-mapped mesh zones to optimize airflow and keep you cool.

The grippy material on the bottom of the jersey keeps it in place on even the rowdiest terrain, and reflective details help you stand out when your rides extend into twilight.
My favorite feature of the Breathe jersey, aside from how comfortable it is to ride in, is that it dries so quickly. I can go out for a ride, toss the jersey in the wash, then air dry it in under an hour. It’s nice to know your jersey will for sure be ready the next day if you have to hand wash it in a hotel room sink and hang it up to dry.
The Breathe jersey is made with about 90% recycled materials, which is pretty cool, too.
I wear a size small in most bike jerseys and felt that the Breathe fits true-to-size. You might not like the jersey if you’re used to “club” style cuts that offer more wiggle room, but for aero performance, the fit is perfect.
Spinshift Bib Shorts+
The Gorewear Spinshift bib shorts are available in both regular and cargo styles. The cargo bibs feature two pockets on the legs and two on the waistband.

Both styles are made with 65% recycled nylon, and the material is soft and breathable. The shorts have a nice, grippy band to keep them from riding up as you pedal.
While Gorewear advertises the bibs to be lightly compressive, I didn’t honestly notice any compression beyond what you’d expect from form-fitting bike shorts.
I also felt that the bibs run slightly large. I normally wear a size small, but had to order down to an extra small so that the chamois wasn’t too big. I maybe needed to go with XXS (see the photos of the back of the bibs for reference).
This is probably the most subjective part of the review – the chamois. You can really only know if a brand’s chamois works for you by testing it yourself, but I found Gorewear’s to be comfortable for rides lasting between 1-2 hours.
I unfortunately didn’t get a chance to test these specific bibs on any super-long rides before writing this review, but I have other Gorewear bibs/shorts with the same liner that perform great for 4+ hours in the saddle.

I do like that Gorewear’s dual-density foam pad is anatomically designed for either men or women (depending which shorts you order), so it’s not a one size fits all pad. And the breathable liner is designed to protect your more sensitive areas from wind chill on colder rides.
Gorewear wanted to design these shorts to be your go-to for both short indoor training rides and longer days out on the road/mountain, and I think they nailed it with the fit and functionality.
My favorite detail in these bibs is a magnetic Y-connector that allows you to detach the bib straps for bathroom breaks. This is a small but not insignificant feature that makes it easier to get back on the road quickly after a pit stop.
A Final Word
I love Gorewear’s Spinshift line up, but unfortunately, the company has decided to discontinue their cycling brand. Since Gore sells their proprietary Goretex fabric to other cycling clothing brands, they were actually competing with the other segment of their business.
So, if you head to the Gorewear site, you’ll find that MANY of their products are steeply discounted right now, and many of the colors and sizes are out of stock. Unfortunately, these products will not be restocked.
Gorewear will continue to sell cycling gear through the end of the first quarter of 2026, at which point, you’ll only be able to find their jerseys, bibs, and other accessories on resale sites, if at all.
Take this as your sign to snag your favorite pieces while you still can.
