Kuhl Renegade Shorts 12 – Awesome for Active Men

Looking for a short that is at home in the city, on the trail or in the gym?  Then check out the Kuhl Renegade Shorts.  Personally, these have been my favorite everyday shorts for my active life.  Built tough, and still look good.

As a fitness professional, I need clothes that do not restrict my movement.  I need to be able to show clients and students how to perform exercises very often.  But, I don’t want to wear my normal training shorts to “work”.  I still need shorts that have functional pockets for wallet, cell phone, keys, pen, and knife.

The DURALAX material offers plenty of stretch to allow for deep squats and lunges.  Yet, the material does not look all that “technical”.  Even in a deep squat, my cell phone stayed in place in the side pocket.  In fact, everything stays in place!  This is not something you can usually do with gym shorts.

I have worn these shorts almost every day for the last 8 years, as a trainer.  I have even taken intense, 3-day kettlebell certifications in them. During the SFG1, I noticed several other instructors wearing these as well.  Like-minded!

The Kuhl Renegade shorts hit a sweet spot of function, performance, comfort, and style.

One of my favorite things about these shorts is that you can wear them to do any activity you can think of.  Not just gym fitness stuff.  These are some of the best hiking shorts you will ever find.  They are great for mountain biking too. Great for weekends with the family doing all the domestic stuff.  Sharp enough to go out for dinner with the wife.  There really is not a situation I can think of, that the Renegade short would not be at home in.

Ok, that was just waiting to get out.  Kidding aside, these shorts are the coolest.  They have perfect pockets and design.  The cell phone pocket is on the side of the right leg.  It easily holds my iPhone 10 Max without letting it fall out.  Even when biking or squatting.  The velcro back pockets keep the wallet in place.  Zippered side access cargo pockets offer ventilation or storage, without looking like a dork.

Sizing for Kuhl Renegade Shorts

For reference, I am 6’1″ 33″ waist and 32″ inseam.  I opt to go with the 33″ version of the shorts. That odd size may not always be available at REI, but it is available from Kuhl directly for $75 They have evolved over the years, changing up materials here and there.  My favorite generation of these shorts is actually the previous generation.  Perhaps 2-3 years ago.  Luckily, I stocked up on them (7 pairs!) and am good to go.  The newer version is still great.  But I feel like they are now a little more trim and streamlined.  Bottom line – these are legit shorts for that active life.
